A Carnival for Everyone

The Nice Carnival enhances its accessibility with inclusive initiatives such as audiodescription for the visually impaired, dedicated spaces for people with reduced mobility, and easy-to-read (FALC) content for simplified understanding.

With the support of La Mut’, concrete initiatives are being undertaken to make the Nice Carnival accessible to people with disabilities.

Inclusive Parades

The City of Nice has set up an audio description system for two parades (February 24 and 25) to ensure greater inclusivity during the Carnival.

The audio description will be provided by students from ISCOM. Following their participation last year, they decided to go further and created the association “Uni Vers L’inclusion,” which now brings together nearly 15 volunteer students to produce audio transcriptions for blind and visually impaired people. Participants will receive precise and targeted information about the visual content of the parades while enjoying the overall sound atmosphere.

Seated in the stands, visually impaired spectators can enjoy the show using wireless headphones, through which they can hear the comments of the interpreter installed in a dedicated booth for this purpose.

*la Mut’ – Mutualité française PACA SSAM has been working with the City of Nice since 2023 to help implement actions that ensure everyone can access this major, internationally recognized event in our City.

Accessibility for People with Reduced Mobility (PRM)

The Nice Carnival is intended as an event open to everyone. It represents a suspended moment where each participant, whether troupes or spectators, mingles with companions for a day to celebrate the burlesque and festive spirit of this event. With the aim of making this spectacle accessible to as many people as possible, the city deploys each year spaces dedicated to people with reduced mobility.

Access is facilitated from the very entrance of the Carnival site, thanks to a corridor reserved for PRM and their companions, at each entrance, with dedicated staff guiding each spectator to their stands.

Regarding pricing, reduced rates are offered for all events to people with a disability rate of 80% or more (with proof), as well as to their companions, while pedestrian areas remain free of charge.

Priority-access toilets are also located in zones A and B, near the podiums reserved for PRM.

Universal Accessibility with FALC Content

The City of Nice regularly collaborates with the Trisomie 21 association to provide Easy-to-Read and Understand (FALC) content. Thus, Nice Events is committed to making the event accessible to all, reflecting the desire for a shared celebration with a program explained clearly and simply, ensuring optimal understanding for everyone.
